How much is a VW T-Roc? Full costs revealed.

Thinking about buying a new or used VW T-Roc? As of 2025/26, the VW T-Roc remains a staple of the UK roads, contributing to a total of 34,353,216 licensed vehicles in the UK as of Q2 2025. While the small SUV segment is highly competitive, the T-Roc has benefited from a broader market shift where luxury and premium brands now comprise 27% of all licensed cars. This trend highlights the T-Roc's successful positioning as a premium crossover choice for a growing segment of UK drivers.

But how much does it cost to buy and run a T-Roc? The NimbleFins car insurance experts have run the numbers on purchase prices for new and used cars, insurance and road tax. Here's what we found.

VW T-Roc Price

The NimbleFins car data experts have dug into publicly available new and used car data to learn how much motorists are really paying for a VW T-Roc. Here's what we found.

Cost of a new VW T-Roc

For the 2026 model year, starting OTR prices for a new VW T-Roc range from £31,620 for the entry-level Life trim up to over £48,000 for the high-performance R-variant. Budgeting for the purchase price is only part of the equation; the average annual cost to run a car in the UK has climbed to £3,484 in 2025, an 8% increase since 2020. This rise is primarily driven by repairs and servicing costs, which have surged by 40% over the same five-year period.

Cost of a used VW T-Roc

The used market remains robust as more owners hold onto vehicles longer—the average car in the UK is now 9.6 years old, 44% older than two decades ago. For a late-model used T-Roc, typical 2026 market prices are:

  • 2025 Reg (Less than 1 year old): ~£27,300
  • 2024 Reg (1 - 2 years old): ~£23,999
  • 2023 Reg (2 - 3 years old): ~£21,500 These figures reflect a steady depreciation curve for what remains one of the most desirable second-hand SUVs.

VW T-Roc Insurance Costs

Insurance costs have shifted significantly; a 2025 market test for the T-Roc revealed a broad premium range from £581 (Hastings Essential) to over £3,500 for higher-risk profiles. This aligns with the national trend where the average car insurance premium in the UK sits at £551 as of late 2025. Drivers should compare specialized quotes, as the T-Roc’s crossover status can place it in higher insurance groups than standard hatchbacks.

Your insurance prices will certainly vary; use this information as a rough guide as to starting insurance costs and to see how they might vary by fuel type and trim level. To find out your VW T-Roc insurance costs, use the quote calculator below:

VW T-Roc Road Tax (VED) Cost

The road tax for a new VW T-Roc is highly variable, due to the wide array of engines, trims and list prices.

Under the April 2025 tax rules, Standard VED has risen to £195 per year. For new registrations, first-year 'First Licence' rates have soared; for example, a T-Roc in VED Band H (131-150g/km) now costs £540 in the first year (up from £270). Crucially, if your T-Roc’s list price exceeds £40,000, you must pay the £410 'Expensive Car Supplement' for five years starting from the second time the vehicle is taxed, bringing your total annual tax bill to £605.
