QuoteMeHappy Car Insurance Overall Review
QuoteMeHappy car insurance has a few missing features but otherwise has pretty good quality car insurance coverage, although the email-only customer service and claims are a problem for some people; but despite this the company rates well by existing customer on Trustpilot achieving 4.5 out of 5 stars.
QuoteMeHappy is an "online" company, a business model with pros and cons. On the plus side, prices are often lower because they don't need to maintain an expensive call centre. On the negative side, customer service can be very frustrating to reach. Instead of picking up the phone and calling to sort out a question or problem, you'll need to reach out via social media or email and wait to be called or emailed back.
5 Things to Know About QuoteMeHappy
- As an online company, to reach QuoteMeHappy customer service you need to use EMAIL (not a phone)
- QuoteMeHappy is UNABLE to change the payment dates if you prefer a different direct debit day
- Child car seats are NOT covered for replacement after an accident
- Keys are NOT covered as standard like on many policies (but key cover can be bought as an add on)
- QuoteMeHappy is part of Aviva, one of the biggest UK car insurance companies
- They offer two tiers of comprehensive cover, "Essentials" (which is really stripped back) and "Plus"
Consumers can buy QuoteMeHappy car insurance from their website or from comparison sites such as Moneysupermarket. They are not part of our partner's panel, where you can get quotes from over 100 providers here.
In terms of features, QuoteMeHappy "Plus" comprehensive car insurance policies offer some good features such as windscreen repair or replacement, rescue after an accident, motor legal as standard and a courtesy car if your car is being repaired by their team after an insured accident.
However, there are a few missing features. For example, keys are not covered unless you buy the add on—however, with the add on you get up to £1,000 for a dongle and claims won't affect your car insurance no claims discount. Breakdown cover is also an optional extra (costing around £30) and is provided by the RAC.
And their "Essentials" plan is really stripped back—for example, no windscreen cover, EU cover, new car replacement or personal belongings cover—but for people who don't want these coverages, the premium may be more attractive.
Parents beware: Child car seats are not covered after an accident with QuoteMeHappy. The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents recommends not buying a second-hand car seat because it could have damage that is not visible—as a result many parents like to have their car seats replaced for safety reasons if they've been in an accident. Given the high cost of car seats, many parents look for this feature in a car insurance policy.
Those heading off on a road trip can enjoy up to 90 days cover when driving in the EU (included as standard and longer than you might find elsewhere).
QuoteMeHappy car insurance is underwritten and administered by Aviva Insurance Limited. Here is a high-level summary of QuoteMeHappy comprehensive cover features according to this specimen policy—remember, these features are always subject to conditions and exclusions and you should check your policy document and features before you buy in case they differ from this sample document.

QuoteMeHappy Car Insurance Customer Service Reviews and Ratings
|QuoteMeHappy Ratings & Customer Reviews|
Is QuoteMeHappy car insurance any good? QuoteMeHappy car insurance includes some good-to-have features, is missing others, but their customer reviews are generally quite good—especially considering that customer service operates online. In fact, most people would recommend QuoteMeHappy despite difficulties reaching customer service, which can be an issue for some people. We've scoured reviews left by customers online; here's what we found.
QuoteMeHappy has earned a very respectable 4.4 star rating from over to 41,000 customers at Trustpilot, with 78% of customers rating their experience as excellent. That's a pretty high score for car insurance. Here are some examples of positive comments left on Trustpilot by QuoteMeHapp.com policyholders:
"Very simple web page. Quickly review all details which are standard on a comprehensive policy. Excellent cover and the price was the same as last year."
"I have been with QMH for a few years now, every year I cross check my renewal quotation and within a few pounds it is always competitive. User friendly software that allows you to change various parameters within your details to immediately see the cost effectiveness of them."
Most of the negative reviews we read relate broadly to difficulty with customer service issues. Certainly, communicating with customer service is more of a challenge when you buy from an online company, so be prepared for delays when dealing with QuoteMeHappy customer service and claims should you go with them and any issues arise. Here are a few samples to give you an idea of common complaints for QuoteMeHappy.com:
"My wife, who has had the mishap did get through to a human and was advised the claim process is online. She filed the claim and was presented with your list of local repairers, none of whom are brand authorised and the nearest s is 20 miles away."
"Only an online service, had trouble logging into the account, took them a very long time to answer my emails. Emails back with generic answer and not actually reading the questions. No way of calling them and speaking to customer services."
"My wife has just lost 4 years no claims bonus with her policy ... as they only give out 9 years maximum ..."
QuoteMeHappy Car Insurance Quote Comparison
We did a quick comparison check to see how competitive QuoteMeHappy really is to use, based on a sample driver who's a 30-year-old male driving a 2017 Ford Fiesta.
While prices will vary significantly depending on factors such as your age, how long you’ve been driving and your postcode, and even vary from day to day, we found that QuoteMeHappy prices were somewhere low to mid market when compared to competing "budget" offers from five of the largest auto insurance companies.
|Profile||Hastings Smart Miles||Quotemehappy (Aviva)||Admiral Little Box||Bell (Admiral Group)||Churchill (Direct Line Group)||LV=|
|20 year old male, 3 years licence, 3 years no claims||£767||n/a||£933||£2,810||n/a||n/a|
|25 year old male, 7 years licence, 5 years no claims||£587||£754||£810||£709||£549||£969|
|25 year old male, 2 years licence, 2 years no claims||£735||£995||£823||£2,480||£834||£1,510|
|30 year old male, 12 years licence, 5 years NCD||£751||555||£718||£648||£418||£770|
Please keep in mind that these are estimates for a sample profile, and you may receive quotes that are significantly more or less than these.
QuoteMeHappy Car Insurance Deals
QuoteMeHappy can offer good deals because they are an "online" car insurance company so don't have to maintain costly call centres. If you have an issue to discuss with customer service you'll need to do this over email instead of just picking up the phone.
Other ways you can save money include paying annually instead of monthly instalments (car insurance companies usually charge interest when you pay monthly because they are essentially extending credit) and being selective about the optional extras you choose to add to your policy.
QuoteMeHappy Cancellation fees
QuoteMeHappy charges a £25 fee if you cancel your policy during the 14-day cooling-off period, and £50 afterwards. Plus, of course, you may be charged Insurance Premium Tax and the cost for the period of cover you've had to date. And if a claim has been made under "Section 1. Loss of or damage to your car" then you won't get any kind of premium refund (e.g., for the remainder of the policy).
Despite QuoteMeHappy being an online company they charge £12 for changes made to your policy. If admin changes result in a "riskier" profile then, of course, your premium may also go up.

- Q: How do you email QuoteMeHappy customer service?
- To reach QuoteMeHappy customer service try emailing [email protected] with your full name, policy number and details of your query.
- Q: Do you get charged for changing your address on QuoteMeHappy?
- A: You won't be charged an admin fee for changing your address with QuoteMeHappy (since you do it yourself through your account online), but the new address might result in a change to your premium.

- Q: When will I get my renewal price from QuoteMeHappy?
- A: Your renewal invitation will be emailed to you 28 days before your renewal date.
- Q: What's the maximum No Claims Bonus at QuoteMeHappy?
- A: QuoteMeHappy gives a maximum of 20+ years of No Claims Discount. Since they are not able to display more than 20+ years NCD on your documents, drivers essentially "lose" any NCD beyond this that they've built up. (This has increased, luckily—it used to be a max of just 9+ years!)
