Admin and Cancellation Fees

In addition to cancellation "fees" as listed in the table above, there are other costs of cancelling your insurance with Quote Detective. For example, cancelling during the cooling off period after cover has started you'll also pay a pro-rata charge for the time your policy was on cover, including any optional add on products (and if you've used these you won't get a refund on them).
Cancelling after the cooling off period means an even higher cost to cancel, because you'll pay:
- A charge for the time your policy was on cover plus any insurers administration fee (not pro-rata but using the scale below)
- The full cost of any optional additional products (whether used or not)
- The policy arrangement fee of £125 (you would have already paid this, but it is not refunded; if you had a discount, you need to top up to pay them £125)
- A cancellation charge of £75.00 (as listed above)
- A charge for lost commission
- If you have a telematics device, the full cost of the device
Calculating the premium charged for time on cover
Cancel during the cooling off period and you'll pay a "pro-rata" amount of your premium to make up for the time on cover. But cancel after the cooling off period and the calculation changes from "pro rata" to a scale—this means you'll end up paying a larger amount for the time on cover than you'd expect. It also means that you won't get any refund if you cancel in the last four months of your policy if you've paid upfront, or that you'll still need to keep paying monthly until your policy ends if you pay in installments—even if you're not using the cover anymore.
