Cheap Easter eggs: All the best supermarket deals in 2025 including Tesco, Asda and M&S

Supermarkets are battling for the Easter egg shoppers with a host of competing deals.

It can feel like a bit of a minefield for consumers so we've listed all the deals so you can find the best for you.

Why do we have Easter eggs?

The tradition of Easter eggs has both religious and pre-Christian roots according to historians.

Eggs have long been a symbol of new life and rebirth, which made them an obvious fit for springtime festivals. Before Christianity, some cultures are believed to have used eggs during spring celebrations to mark the end of winter and the renewal of life.

Some Christian scholars claim the egg became linked to Easter, as it symbolises the resurrection of Jesus Christ. They point out that just as a chick hatches from an egg, Jesus emerged from the tomb. According to the Christian tradition, eggs were often prohibited during Lent, so people would celebrate the end of fasting by eating them at Easter.

Chocolate manufacturers and retailers began making chocolate Easter eggs in the 19th century, initially with dark chocolate, before they became more elaborate and varied over the years as chocolate production techniques improved.

Tesco Easter eggs

Tesco is offering discounts on luxury eggs to Clubcard members. The Tesco Finest 48% Côte d'Ivoire Dark Milk Easter Egg is discounted from £12 to £8 with a Clubcard. The Kinder Surprise Giant Easter Egg (220g) is reduced from £17 to £12.50 with a Clubcard.

The large Cadbury Mini Eggs egg which comes with two bags of Mini Eggs is on sale for £2.45 for Clubcard holders.

Those with a taste for Cadbury's Crème Eggs can get 50p off a box of five with a Clubcard - coming in at £3.

Small Easter eggs such as the Cadbury Mini Eggs 97g egg and Cadbury Dairy Milk Giant Buttons 96g egg are reduced from £2 to £1.25 with Clubcards.

Extra large eggs are also reduced from £6 to £4 for Clubcard holders.

Asda Easter eggs

Asda has a mix-and-match deal where you can select four Easter eggs from a range of popular brands for a total of £11.96, making each egg approximately £2.99.

These eggs are the larger style and include at least one full size chocolate too, such as the Galaxy Minstrels 204g egg with two bags of Minstrels, a large Malteser Teasers egg which includes two full size Teaser bars, or Cadbury's Caramel which includes a full size Caramel egg.

You can also buy boxes of smaller eggs ideal for an Easter egg hunt, with Kit Kat and Smarties Egg Hunt packs of eight small chocolate eggs for £2.97, down from £3.98.

M&S Easter eggs

M&S doesn't tend to do discounts on its Easter eggs but does have some seriously decadent chocolate on offer.

These include the Outrageously Chocolatey Custard Cream Biscuity Egg - which is a giant square block of chocolate in the shape of the iconic biscuit, with a layer of milk chocolate with biscuits, and another layer custard cream inside for £12.

There's also the Marks and Spencer Collection Blond Egg with a Salted Caramel Truffle Loaded Base for £15.

Aldi Easter eggs

Aldi has some own brand Easter eggs but also a couple of well-known brand names this year.

It is selling Maltesers Milk Chocolate Medium Easter Egg 96.5g for £1.35 and the Celebrations Milk Chocolate Large Easter Egg 189g for £3.45.

It's also £3.45 for the Galaxy Minstrels Milk Chocolate Large Easter Egg 204g. While individually this is cheaper than Asda, it works out more expensive if taking advantage of Asda's four for £11.96 deal.

Morrisons Easter eggs

Morrisons has an - almost - BOGOF deal on selected extra-large Easter eggs, including brands like Cadbury, Terry's, and Nestlé.

Shoppers with a loyalty card can buy one XL egg for £6 or two for £7.

When buying more than one egg, Morrisons beats Sainsbury's offer of XL eggs for £4.50 each.

Sainsbury's Easter eggs

Sainsbury's is offering Nectar card holders discounts on various Easter eggs. For example, the Taste the Difference Belgian Milk Chocolate Tiramisu XL Easter Egg is reduced from £10 to £8.

XL eggs are also cut from £6 to £4.50 for Nectar card holders.

These include the Cadbury Mini XL Chocolate Easter Egg 232g and Cadbury Dairy Milk XL Chocolate Easter Egg with Caramel Bar 245g. However, if you're going to be buying more than one, you might want to pop to Morrisons instead as their two for £7 deal works out cheaper.

Waitrose Easter eggs

Waitrose offers up to a third off selected Easter eggs for MyWaitrose members.

The indulgent No.1 Milk Chocolate Flat Egg is 20% off down to £12 from £15.

Its decadent Ribbon Easter egg range (which includes white chocolate and raspberry and milk chocolate with toffee flavours) are £8 with a MyWaitrose card, down from £10.

Cheap Easter eggs

Discount retailers are also offering a few deals to tempt savvy shoppers.

Farmfoods is selling a pack of three Cadbury Creme Eggs for £1, equating to approximately 33p per egg, which is significantly lower than the typical price at other supermarkets.

B&M has reduced the price of Quality Street 300g pouches to £3, offering a cheaper alternative to other retailers.

Ways to find cheap Easter eggs:

Compare prices: Prices can vary between supermarkets, so it's a good idea to compare deals before purchasing.

Loyalty cards: Utilise supermarket loyalty cards like Nectar and Clubcard to access exclusive discounts.

Multi-buy offers: Look out for multi-buy deals, especially if purchasing multiple eggs.

Own-brand options: Consider supermarket own-brand Easter eggs, which often provide good value for money.
