Tesco Clubcard members urged to cash in points NOW before value slashed
Clubcard points are now worth twice their in-store equivalent when used with Reward Partners, down from the previous triple-value rate. This permanent devaluation, which took effect on June 14, 2023, remains the standard for the scheme in 2026.
Clubcard points can either be spent in the supermarket as vouchers, or cashed in for Reward Partner codes worth twice their in-store value—such as at popular companies like PizzaExpress, Disney+, or English Heritage.
Any rewards ordered up to and including June 13 will be valid for a year from the date of issue. It is usually six months but Tesco has extended the timeframe to help customers cashing in their current vouchers for maximum value.
It has also slashed its rewards points at its petrol stations, with drivers receiving one point for every two litres of fuel bought, rather than for every £2 they spend on fuel.
Customers still receive the same amount of points during their supermarket shop - one point for every £1 spent in-store or online. But it is the value that those points are worth that is changing. The value of those points changed significantly in mid-2023 and has stayed at that level through 2026:
- In-Store Value: 1 point = 1p. (150 points = £1.50 voucher).
- Reward Partner Value: Your points are now worth 2x their value with most partners.
- Special Triple Value: As of early 2026, a select few partners (mostly restaurant chains like PizzaExpress and Zizzi) have run "Triple Value" promotions where 50p in vouchers equals £1.50 in dining credit.
Most significant discounts in-store are now exclusive to Clubcard members, often saving shoppers between 17% and 25% on their total bill instantly.
Points can also be collected via Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile. To get a voucher, members need to collect a minimum of 150 points, which is converted to £1.50 to spend either in the supermarket or on rewards.
In recent years Tesco started rewarding Clubcard members at the tills rather than just with their vouchers, offering discounts on scores of popular items if their card is scanned at the checkout.
Some Tesco customers are unhappy with the change, which comes after Clubcard points were slashed from four times their value to three in 2018.
One tweeted: "Tesco is now lowering the amount of points you get when purchasing fuel, this along with the lowering in rewards you get when you exchange points. Fat cats being greedy! Goodbye loyal customers."
It is not the only retailer to slash its loyalty scheme. Sainsbury's cut its Nectar card points from two points for every £1 spent to one point for every £2.
NimbleFins previously reported Boots reduced its Advantage Card rewards from May 23, with customers receiving 3p for every £1 spent, down from 4p. It vowed to offer card holders a 10% discount on 6,000 of its own branded products instead, claiming the change was to help customers through the cost of living crisis.
Marks and Spencer is trialling a Sparks Plus card costing £120 a year that offers monthly £10 vouchers, one free hot drink a month and unlimited next day delivery.
Tesco's chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini said: "While we are making a change to how members can use their vouchers with our reward partners, we want to remind millions of Clubcard holders to redeem their vouchers at three times the value until June 13 so they can use their reward partner codes to give themselves and their families a well-deserved treat.
"We have extended the validity of redeemed codes at the 3x rate, so if swapped before the deadline, they will be valid for a year, instead of six months, to give customers even more time to enjoy them."
