Asda Cashback Credit Card: Earn Asda Vouchers

The Asda Cashback Credit Card offers rewards on Asda spend as well as other (non-Asda) everyday spending. This free card gives 1% cashback on all Asda purchases and 0.5% cashback elsewhere. This card is a way to get money back on occasional Asda shopping. Asda “cashback” is actually distributed in the form of Asda vouchers so anyone preferring cashback in the form of statement credits should look elsewhere.

Asda Cashback Credit Card Review

The Asda Cashback Credit Card provides 1% cashback to cardholders who buy groceries, fuel, insurance, clothing and/or home goods at Asda (including Living stores and online at George.com), as well as offering 0.5% cashback on non-Asda purchases. "Cashback" rewards are delivered as Asda vouchers - this may be a pro or a con, depending on how you view Asda vouchers. Distribution is largely in the cardholder’s control: rewards can be redeemed as quickly as the next month’s statement or rewards can be left up to a year to build up. There is no cap on annual rewards.

Particularly loyal Asda shoppers may want to read about the sister card, the Asda Cashback Plus Credit Card, which offers rewards rates between 1% and 2% but charges a £3 monthly fee.

If you are deciding between the free Asda Cashback and the paid Asda Cashback Plus credit cards, the right one for you will depend upon the amount you spend at Asda. The break-even point between the Asda cards is £300/month of Asda spend. That is, shoppers spending £300 a month at Asda would earn the same £3/month on either card (reflecting the monthly fee on the paid Plus card). Monthly Asda spend above £300 would earn higher rewards on the paid Plus card; monthly Asda spend less than £300 would earn higher rewards on this free card.

The Asda Cashback card also offers 10% cashback on Asda Money Insurance products. Insurance policies included in this offer are Home, Pet, Annual Travel (not single trips), and UK or European Breakdown Cover (Roadside Cover not included). So long as users keep the policy for the full year, both insurance purchases and renewals will benefit from this 10% cashback offer.

Asda doesn’t offer a points-based “loyalty card,” like some other retailers. The Asda cashback credit cards act, in essence, like a loyalty card. As with all rewards cards, you should pay off your balance every month. By carrying over a balance, the 19.9% variable APR interest rate will quickly wipe out any rewards, and then some. (With the exception that the card is offering 6 months of 0% interest on purchases of £200 or more at George.com.)

Bottom Line: The Asda Cashback Credit Card offers Asda voucher rewards to Asda shoppers who want to get a bit of money back on their shop (1%), plus 0.5% rewards outside of Asda. Be prepared to pay off your balance every month, as the interest rate on purchases will quickly wipe out any rewards.

How do Asda Cashback Vouchers Work?

Asda’s cashback rewards are distributed in the form of Asda vouchers and expire a year after they’ve been earned. As soon as your account has accumulated at least £2.50 in cashback rewards, you can download an e-voucher to your phone or print a paper voucher to use at Asda, either online or in store. Cardholders can take their cashback rewards as early as when they appear on the next month’s statement or let the rewards build up into a larger pot.
