Travel trends
With surprises such as Nashville, Agadir and Koh Samui on the list, it appears some holidaymakers are looking for cultural adventure. But, it's not all cultural exploration, with BA finding the all-inclusive package deal is making a comeback, and not just for older travellers.
BA combined survey results, search data and industry expertise to list a host of other trends among tourists in 2025.
These include:
All-inclusives: BA's customer research found 42% of travellers “only want to eat, drink and lie in the sun” when they go on holiday. At the same time, one third (32%) of customers says they like holidays where activities are organised for them.
Taste treasure hunts: Inspired by dishes and spots to go viral on social media, holidaymakers are crafting itineraries around shareable experiences from convenience store snacks and street food stalls to new and quirky restaurants. 69% said food is an important factor when choosing their holiday.
Active holidays and learning: 70% of those surveyed by BA like to come back from holiday having learnt something new and 32% said they will book their hotel based on its activities, experiences or sports facilities. This rises to 58% among 18-24 year olds.
With the rise in adventure holidays and immersive cultural experiences spotlighted, it's important to double-check that your travel insurance includes cover for activities like hiking, watersports, or excursions.
Synchronised holidays: Going away with friends or family is a trend with 71% of adults booking holidays this year saying they will be coordinating their bookings to fit with another group.
Jenny Southan, editor, founder and CEO of Globetrender and author of the report, said: "Travel in 2025 will be defined by a bold mix of nostalgia, curiosity, and self-discovery. The desire for structured, stress-free escapes is driving the comeback of the all-inclusive, while people are using travel to deepen their passions—from pottery in Portugal to beekeeping in the Alps."
