Wedding Plan Insurance Review: Is It Good?

Getting married? Congratulations! The average UK wedding costs around £20,000—but whatever your own budget, a wedding is a major financial commitment. To help safeguard this investment in your big day, consider buying a wedding insurance policy. WeddingPlan Insurance offers 9 levels of cover to suit most wedding budgets, to help give you peace of mind while planning for this truly special day.

Wedding Plan Insurance Prices

Wedding Plan insurance starts from £29.85 for a low-budget wedding with one ceremony and one reception and goes up to £269.99 or more for a wedding costing up to £65,000. Regardless of the size of your wedding, this puts the cost of insurance at less than 1% of your wedding budget. And while you're unlikely to need the insurance, having it in place can certainly make your planning more relaxing.

How Much is Wedding Plan Insurance?1 Ceremony + 1 Reception
Bronze (£2,500 cancellation cover)£29.85
Silver (£7,000 cancellation cover)£39.99
Gold (£10,000 cancellation cover)£47.75
Diamond (£12,500 cancellation cover)£58.55
Diamond+ (£17,000 cancellation cover)£74.99
Platinum (£22,000 cancellation cover)£91.49
Platinum+ (£27,000 cancellation cover)£104.90
Premier (£32,000 cancellation cover)£119.95
Premier+ (£65,000 cancellation cover)£269.99
starting prices, including Insurance Premium Tax (IPT)

We found that doubling the number of events (that is, having two ceremonies and two receptions) would increase the cost of wedding insurance by roughing 30%.

What Is and Is Not Covered by Wedding Insurance?

Wedding insurance doesn't cover you if you change your mind about getting married—it is meant to provide a measure of financial protection when a situation that's out of your control wrecks havoc on your wedding ceremony or reception. For instance, if your vintage wedding car hire goes bust and you lose the money you've paid them or extreme weather means you have to rearrange your big day. For full details see the coverage limits below and read the policy wording, but here is a brief summary of some of what's covered, and not:

What's covered by Wedding Plan Insurance?

  • CANCELLATION & REARRANGEMENT: if a supplier, your venue or extreme weather causes you to cancel.
  • LOSS, DAMAGE & THEFT: protection of important wedding items such as your cake, flowers, attire, transport, gifts, ceremonial swords and more
  • SICKNESS & INJURY: rearrangement of the wedding day if a close relative becomes ill or injured and can't attend

What's not covered by Wedding Plan Insurance?

  • Deciding not to proceed with the marriage or register the civil partnership (and/or celebrations)
  • Personal Liability cover for weddings or receptions in the USA or Canada
  • Public Liability Cover or Marquee Cover for weddings located outside of the UK
  • Wedding planning services where the planner is responsible for paying other suppliers (you need written evidence directly between you and your individual suppliers)
  • Receptions finishing 21 days or more after the ceremony
  • When you know before buying the policy that there may be a problem (from a close relative with a terminal health prognosis to a vendor being nonresponsive)
  • Bouncy castles, fireworks, etc.
  • Weddings outside of the UK. (Travel and/or accommodation for weddings outside the UK could potentially be covered through a travel insurance policy.)

Which Wedding Plan Insurance is Best for Me?

Choosing the right plan is simply a matter of knowing your wedding budget and buying a plan that covers your irrecoverable expenses in case of unavoidable cancellation, such as ceremonial attire, flowers, photographs, caterers, a wedding car, accommodation and the services from any other wedding services supplier. Once you have an idea of your wedding budget for food, drinks, music, venue, etc., you can figure out how much cancellation cover you'll need.

For example, if your wedding budget for these items is £20,000 then Wedding Plan Insurance would start from £65.89 (plus extra for public liability insurance and marquee insurance, if needed). Here are some sample rates for a range of wedding budgets, to give you an idea of the cost of wedding insurance.

Your Wedding BudgetStarting Premium
£5,000£25.50
£10,000£35.94
£20,000£65.89
£25,000£85.89
£50,000£151.61
£75,000£244.75

Also check the cover limits on other items such as rings and financial failure of suppliers to make sure these limits are sufficient for you as well in the plan you choose. These limits are available in the policies section below.

Wedding Plan Customer Reviews

As of February 2026, just over 120 customers had left a review at Trustpilot for WeddingPlan insurance, giving them a rating of 4.6, which is excellent.

(Historically, Wedding Plan used to be rated with 4.8 out of 5 stars by customers at feefo, but that was pre-Covid and there haven't been any reviews left there in the past few years.)

Here are some more recent customer reviews:

"So easy to arrange for my daughter and future son in laws' wedding. We got hurt when Covid happened for another member of the family. Very clear, what is and is not covered, giving peace of mind, particularly for the venue amount paid in advance."

"Straightforward process, easy to work with and reasonably priced too."

Separately, Wedding Plan surveyed over 1,0000 customers and displayed the results on their website in 2024, finding that 99% of Wedding Plan policyholders would recommend them.

Wedding Plan Insurance Policies

Wedding Plan Insurance used to offer nine different policies to cover wedding budgets up to £65,000, but now they offer more highly customised coverage tiers.

When getting a quote, the user can select the cost of their wedding to the nearest £1,000, with a range from £2,000 up to £75,000.

As the overall cover rises, so do the inner limits for categories like rings, financial failure, wedding attire, flowers, etc. For example, here are overall and inner limits for a £20,000 wedding (which costs £65.89 to insure):

Wedding Plan Insurance Coverage for £20K Wedding
